The Clearfield Utah North Stake has been participating in stake organized Treks for more than two decades. The first documented Trek was 2001, to Martin’s Cove in Wyoming. That Trek was lead by Stake Young Women’s President Sister McDougal and Stake Young Men’s President Curtis Smith. Since that inaugural journey, the stake has organized a Handcart Trek every four years. Trek 2021 was the 6th undertaking.
The theme Heroes of Israel was chosen by our Stake Youth Council as we focused on discovering the hero inside each one of the youth that has been called by our prophet, President Nelson as part of the Lord’s Battalion to gather scattered Israel. This “hero training” took place at Camp Zarahemla in Morgan, Utah, August 6 – 9. Participants were organized into tribes and participated in activities and re-enactments based on Book of Mormon events and teachings. In preparation for this camp, the entire stake was invited to read the Book of Mormon as individuals and families, keeping the purpose of the camp in mind while reading.
